The short-lived Bering Truck Corporation is specialized in manufacturing and modifying commercial cab-over trucks while working closely with Hyundai, the main supplier of parts and accessories from South Korea. The company opened its doors in 1997 and introduced its first model to the domestic market two years later. The business was growing fast until their overseas partners decided to breach the contract and get into the relationship with one of the major U.S. automotive corporations. Bering was forced to shut its operations in the early 2000s due to loss of its market share and distribution rights.

Bering had exclusive manufacturing and distribution agreements with Hyundai which were terminated by its South Korean partner. Daimler-Chrysler took efforts to make it happen after buying a 10% stake in Hyundai planning to expand its product line with a range of light- and medium-duty cab-over trucks. Bering filed lawsuits in the International Court of Arbitration and U.S. federal court to resolve the dispute. International legal institutions found the Hyundai Motor Company guilty of breaching the contract with Bering in bad faith. Later, the federal suit was withdrawn after the settlement between the parties.

Before the trouble began, based on its exclusive distributor agreement with Hyundai, Bering built a 200,000 square foot factory in Front Royal. There, the company built the Bering LD, Bering MD, and Bering HDMX commercial vehicles. The Bering LD is a Class 4 truck powered by the Detroit Diesel 638 engine paired with Allison automatic gearbox. The Bering MD Class 6 truck is available with the Cummins ISB engine and ZF manual transmission. The Bering HDMX Class 8 heavy-duty mixer is powered by the Caterpillar C-12 powerplant mated to the Eaton-Fuller 11-speed transmission. Bering used a technologically advanced Sauer-Sundstrand Transit Mixer system where the use of mechanical cables is virtually eliminated.
