HOW SHOULD I INSTALL MY SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL?
Instructions may vary for multi-piece sets: EVA - Install poly side down/paper side up. Mastic with Pad - Install pad side down. Foil with Pad - Install pad side down.
DO THE CARPETS COME WITH PADDING?
In most cases if your original carpet came with padding then your replacement carpet from ACC, Inc. will come with padding. Most carpets come with padding attached underneath the carpet. Some kits, including Vinyl, will have the padding loose in the box and not attached to the carpet. We also offer padding kits and padding by the yard that are sold separately.
WHAT IS MASS BACKING?
Mass Backing is a special upgrade backing that’s bonded to the back of your vehicle’s molded carpet. The material is a 45mil thick Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) that makes your interior carpet heavier—providing more sound protection and heat insulation than the standard backing. It also makes the installation process easier and gives your vehicle a more luxurious look once completely installed.
It can be applied to any piece of your carpet set that is molded. However, it cannot be applied to die cut pieces (such as flat cargo and flat side panels) or “cut and sewn” style carpeting. It also cannot be applied to vinyl.
Around 1990, car manufacturers began to install mass backing as the standard backing. Therefore, late model car owners are encouraged to purchase the mass backing when replacing their car carpet if they wish to enjoy the same standards and level of comfort.
Since mass backing provides excellent sound and heat protection by itself, there’s no need to install additional sound deadening material prior to laying down your carpet, which can save you time and money.
Overall, mass backing creates a quieter, cooler, and more comfortable cabin for an all-around better driving experience.
WHAT IS ESSEX AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN STANDARD CUT PILE?

Auto Custom Carpets carpet is meant to be a replacement to the original automotive carpet that came from the OEM. Using it for any other purpose is not recommended.
CARPET VS VINYL: WHAT’S BEST?
Many people may not realize it, but auto flooring plays a big role in the utility aspect of your car, truck, jeep, or van. Generally, you have two main options: carpet or vinyl, and what you choose to install largely depends on your job, hobbies, and day-to-day activities.
Carpet
Carpet is the standard flooring found in most sedans, SUVs, vans, and trucks. While it’s more aesthetically pleasing than vinyl, it’s more susceptible to stains and odors. That doesn’t mean it’s without its benefits, however. Aside from giving your vehicle a more luxurious feel, high-quality carpet is comfortable, keeps your automobile insulated, and helps deaden outside sounds.
If your lifestyle allows you keep your vehicle relatively clean, and you’re not concerned with the occasional mess, carpet is a safe, reasonable option. Just be sure you know when to replace your carpet.
Vinyl
Vinyl flooring is often found in utility heavy vehicles, such as trucks and jeeps. If you spend a lot of time off road and outdoors, or work a labor intensive job such as construction or home maintenance, vinyl is probably a better option for your vehicle. Because of its non-porous surface, spills aren’t absorbed into the flooring, making it easier to clean. It’s also much stronger and more durable than carpet.
Of course, you don’t have to be an active outdoorsman or hard-working laborer to reap the benefits of vinyl flooring. It’s a great option for taxis, shuttle vans, and any automobile that sees a heavy amount of dirty foot traffic.
