In May of 2002, ContiTech became an ISO/TS 16949:2002 certified manufacturing company.
ISO/TS 16949:2002 was developed by The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) together with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
ISO/TS 16949:2002 is an ISO Technical Specification, which aligns existing US, German, French and Italian automotive quality system standards within the global automotive industry. The latest version is based on ISO 9001:2000 quality management system but with an even greater emphasis on process management. Basically, ISO/TS 16949:2002 contains the full requirements of ISO 9001:2000 - and then some.
ISO/TS 16949:2002 defines the quality system requirements for the design and development, production, installation, and servicing of automotive related products. This version of standardization focuses on the development of a quality management system that is dedicated to continual improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
ISO/TS 16949:2002 also requires organizations to provide a clear definition of processes, a measurable dedication to customer satisfaction, and an ongoing analysis of customer needs.
This certification is applicable to all sites of the organization where customer-specified parts for production and/or service are manufactured.
With an ISO/TS16949 certification, customers can count on the fact that the entire line of ContiTech products has met all of these requirements. But certification is not a lifetime award, re-certification occurs every few years. Keeping a focus on quality top of mind for everyone at ContiTech, year in and year out.
