Fail-Safe Thermostats offer premium, patented technology for superior protection over any thermostat on the market. Only Fail-Safe is designed to lock in the open position when overheating occurs due to a failing cooling system component. This allows maximum coolant flow, thus preventing expensive engine damage.
Fail-Safe is designed to help protect your engine when overheating occurs. When overheating occurs, Fail-Safe automatically locks in the open position to permit maximum coolant flow. When standard thermostats fail, they lock in the closed position and prevent coolant flow to the engine, which can possibly cause serious damage to your engine. Fail-Safe has a patented safeguard against overheating damage.
Fail-Safe thermostats are designed with a unique extra stroke that allows operation in two stages:
Stage 1: Within normal operating temperatures, the Fail-Safe operates the same as any other thermostat.
Stage 2: When overheating is caused by a deteriorating cooling system part, the Fail-Safe has a secondary stroke that activates a precision engineered piston that automatically locks the valve into a wide open position allowing coolant to circulate freely.
Note: Once the Fail-Safe thermostat has locked in the open position, it must be replaced and cannot be used again.
MotoRad High Flow thermostats are made of stainless steel and have enlarged openings to provide increased flow. MotoRad is the only thermostat manufacturer that produces true "High Flow" thermostats for today's higher performance engines. These parts also feature a triple-bridge design that increases strength, stability and reliability. High-flow thermostats also have a bypass valve that allows a small amount of coolant to circulate before fully opening.
State-of-the-art equipment, strict quality control, and functional testing to each thermostat ensure customers that they can trust the high quality product used in their vehicle. MotoRad offers the only true good, better, best in the industry with standard flow, High Flow / Performance, and the patented Failsafe thermostats.
MotoRad offers a full line of thermostats to replace original equipment thermostats. These parts are manufactured with high-grade duel bridge stainless steel construction and they meet or exceed all original equipment manufactures requirements. MotoRad also offers standard thermostats in many alternate temperatures.
Integrated Housing Thermostats
Integrated housing thermostats differ from traditional thermostats, as they are an all-in-one bolt on solution, with the thermostat and housing integrated into each other. This is a growing segment of thermostats with a large number of vehicles entering the replacement window.
MotoRad offers superior application coverage on integrated housing thermostats, at nearly 120 SKU’s, accounting for 91% application coverage. Housing thermostat sales have been growing at a rapid rate since they became very popular on 2003 vehicles. In 2014, roughly 40% of all new vehicles manufactured came equipped with an integrated housing thermostat and that trend continues to climb in 2015. The growth of this product segment will continue for years to come. Partner with the leader in integrated housing thermostats to grow your revenue and gross profit.
MAP Controlled Integrated Housing Thermostats
Integrated MAP controlled housing thermostats are the next generation of integrated housing thermostats. They allow additional regulation of operating temperature via maps stored in the ECU. They are specifically designed for maximum efficiency to provide adaptive, on-demand cooling based on the engine’s overall performance and load state. This results in lower emissions and fuel consumption, while providing greater engine output.
MotoRad radiator pressure caps are designed and manufactured to offer precise pressure control for the automotive cooling system. Most standard radiator caps are also offered in a version with a safety lever feature. MotoRad’s radiator caps are manufactured to meet all OEM requirements and each part is factory tested prior to shipping to customers.
MotoRad standard radiator caps make an excellent replacement for worn or faulty radiator caps, which occur over time. Radiator caps are easy to install and remove because the cap's shell turns interdependent of the sealing gasket, stem, and bottom plate.
MotoRad safety lever radiator caps utilize a lever that locks the cap to the filler neck requiring the lever be lifted before removal. When the lever is lifted, the valve pressurizing in the cooling system is opened and pressure is vented through the overflow tube making it safe to remove the radiator cap. MotoRad offers a variety of pressure caps ranging from 4 PSI to over 30 PSI.
MotoRad fuel caps are designed and manufactured to prevent fuel loss, primarily through evaporation. A faulty or leaky fuel cap emit up-to 30 gallons of fuel per year in to the atmosphere. All of MotoRad’s fuel caps meet all Federal (MVSS301) and I/M 240 requirements.
Standard Fuel Caps
MotoRad standard fuel caps pass all state and federal emissions requirements. The caps are specifically designed with pressure and vacuum relief valves to prevent evaporation of fuel.
Locking Fuel Caps
MotoRad’s locking fuel caps can function as a locking or non-locking fuel cap. When the key is turned to the left and removed, the cap is unlocked and no longer spins freely. The cap meets all emission specifications in both the locked and unlocked position.
A faulty or leaking fuel cap can cause the "Check Engine" light to come on.
The primary function of an oil cap is to seal the oil reservoir. However, oil caps can include filters for crankcase venting that should be changed several times in the life of the vehicle. Appropriate breather filters and peripheral attachments are included with MotoRad oil caps, where applicable. A good fit is always insured with MotoRad oil caps in order to prevent leak or "blow by".
A missing or defective oil cap can cause a loss of oil leading to engine damage.
Diesel exhaust fluid is a urea-based liquid that is injected into the exhaust stream to reduce the emissions of diesel engines. This technology has been used for several years in ‘clean diesels’, including Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen. All diesels manufactured after January 1, 2010 require the diesel exhaust fluid and the cap. There are three different caps for the light duty aftermarket; One for Ford, GM and Chrysler/Dodge. These caps do not hold pressure.
MotoRad’s pressure tester will allow the testing of the cooling system and your radiator pressure cap. The tester offers a large color coded gauge with readings up to 30 Lbs/207 Kpa. The gauge facing will give you accurate reading in Kpa. and Lbs.
MotoRad offers a complete unit that is capable of testing the vehicle's cooling system or the radiator cap. The tester is sold in a kit that includes the complete unit with two of the most popular adapters in a compact pocket molded durable case. The tester body is constructed of plated steel and is fitted with a large, easy to read gauge. The tester offers a large color coded gauge with reading up to 30 Lbs/207 Kpa.
MotoRad offers a variety of adapters, each designed to fit the cooling system or radiator cap. The adapters are made of polished steel or high impact plastic. As a safety feature, there is a pressure release bar. It will release the pressure in the radiator neck or the radiator cap for easy release.
MotoRad offers an extensive line of adhesive backed thermostat gaskets and rubber seals to support thermostat installation. MotoRad's thermostat gaskets are made from high quality materials suitable for resistance to high temperatures and engine coolant to maintain a good seal. The adhesive backing also reduces installation time by ensuring proper alignment and ease of installation. MotoRad's thermostat seals are precision designed and made from high quality rubber products ensuring an accurate fit and durability for a long lasting seal.
When a thermostat requires a single seal for all of its applications, MotoRad includes the seal with the thermostat to service the complete job and ensure customer satisfaction. Also, a seal will be included when precise alignment of the seal to the thermostat is required. This is a benefit to the DIY customer and the professional installer, as this information may only be known by the OEM through service bulletins.
