Most Patriot headers are available in raw steel for individual customizing. However, the preferred finish continues to be their Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (MCTBC). MCTBC protects and extends the life of headers by creating a thermal barrier which significantly lowers under hood temperatures and protects the substrate metal from thermal fatigue. After MCTBC is applied, it is polished with a vibratory finishing process that produces a high luster aluminum appearance. The polishing process compresses and activates the coating, creating a surface which is harder and 60% more corrosion resistant than an unpolished surface. This coating is easy to maintain and will last for years under normal operating conditions.
Patriot also offers a Hi-Temp Black Coating available on Patriot headers and side tubes. An affordably priced alternative to their MCTBC, their Hi-Temp Black finish provides good corrosion and heat protection when compared to many of the “cheaper” header finishes being applied by their competitors
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I ENCOUNTER AN INSTALLATION PROBLEM WITH MY HEADER?
Header installation for the most part can be accomplished with simple hand tools, a floor jack and jack stands. Some applications can be very time consuming due to limited space in the engine compartment. Should you encounter a fitment problem do not attempt to modify or alter the header in any way or your warranty will become void.
DO ALL PATRIOT HEADERS HAVE THE SAME BASIC DESIGN?
No, absolutely not. Patriot headers are designed for specific applications. The type of header design will change depending on the intended vehicle usage and emissions requirements. Patriot headers for conventional V-8 applications utilize several types of header designs:
Long Tube Headers
Long Tube Headers are typically used for higher RPM horsepower, but can also increase the mid range torque in applications were there is room to fit a long tube design.
Roadster Headers
Classic or the high performance Sprint style Roadster headers are typically used in T buckets and Hi-Boy Street rods.
Mid Length Headers
Mid Length or “clippster” Headers provide improved ground clearance for popular muscle cars and street rods.
Lakester Headers
Lakester headers capture the look and performance reminiscent of the Bonneville and Dry Lakes racers. Traditional Lakesters are used without any additional exhaust system, while Classic Lakesters have provision for an under car exhaust system
