Just about any suspension, steering, and driveline repair job is well within your capabilities if you have some mechanical aptitude, but along with your usual arsenal of sockets and wrenches, you’re going to need some special tools to get the job done correctly and safely. Check out the huge selection of service tools on this page, and you’ll see that we have what you need for every type of repair including struts, shocks, springs, ball joints, bushings, bearings, hubs, pitman arms, tie-rod ends, U-joints, axles and more.

Often, one of the first steps in a suspension repair is removing the wheel hub, but the axle nut is usually much larger than any size that comes in the average socket set. We have individual and axle nut socket sets for just about every make and model, including the special bearing retainer nuts used on many 4WD models. We also have hub and axle shaft pullers as well as the grease packers, pullers, and drivers to properly lubricate bearings and install bearing races and seals in the hub.

Ball joint replacement starts with separating the tapered ball joint stud from the knuckle/spindle. We have separators (“pickle forks”) to make quick work of the job, and ball joint pullers as well if you want to preserve the dust boot. We also have the proper extractors, drivers and removal tools to separate bushings from trailing arms, leaf springs and other components. And there’s no need to risk damaging your new parts or the control arm by attempting to pound in press-fit ball joints and bushings. We have press kits with all the attachments to safely and properly press these components into place, including general purpose bushing drivers and the special ball joint adapter kits required by some makes and models.

The great amount of energy in a compressed coil spring should not be taken lightly. Serious personal injury and vehicle damage can result if these springs are not serviced properly. We have a wide variety of spring compressors that can reliably hold coil springs in their compressed position so they can safely be removed, whether it’s from a MacPherson strut or from between a control arm and the vehicle frame. No matter what type of suspension you’re working on or the degree of access to the spring, we have the compressor to do the job, including compressors that attach to the spring externally and internally, and portable as well as wall mount strut spring compressors.

Removing the upper shock nut can be a chore when the shaft turns with the nut. We have a tool that holds the shaft and engages the nut at the same time, for easy removal. Tie-rod service is easy on both rack-and-pinion and recirculating ball steering gear when you have our tie-rod service tools, including inner tie-rod removers, tie-rod adjusters, and outer tie-rod separators and pullers. We also have many special tools for everything from removing pitman arms to installing studs, adjusting wheel alignment to installing CV-joint boots, removing halfshafts to unloading torsion bars, removing and installing U-joint bearing cups, and much more. Many are designed for specific vehicle applications so you can do the job right.
