According to the US trailer lighting requirements, all trailers that are longer than 6' must be equipped with front and rear side marker lights, as well as every trailer that is 80" wide or wider requires front and rear clearance lights to be installed in addition to the basic set of lights. Trailer clearance and marker lights play a great role in the overall visibility of your vehicle, making it easier for other drivers to see your trailer at night and in bad weather conditions. Depending on the length of a trailer, it can feature from one to three or even more marker lights on each side. In many cases, they are also accompanied by side marker reflectors which make the trailer even more visible to other road users.
